Get Ready for Winter
As we write this the weather is perfect. Sunshine, not too hot. Not cold.
But the weather men predict a storm brewing up North.
So here’s some suggestions to get ready for winter.
Program emergency numbers into your cell phone. If a storm comes it could knock out your land lines.
Program in the electric company, gas company, ambulance, police and family members.
Get copies to other family members. If none is in your city, seek out a friend or neighbor. If you can trust them, get a copy of your door key to them.
Look around your house. Discover where you turn off your electric, gas, water and wires coming into your home. Be sure your home address is visible from the street in case you call for an emergency. A light near the numbers is a good idea.
More tips.
Know where your paper work is. Like your insurance contacts, in case something does happen.
Ambulance contacts. If you are a member of the ETMC system, keep that card handy.
Don’t carry your social security card with you. Just memorize it.
It’s hard to get by without a credit card or a debit card. But limit it to one, and keep a duplicate of the card, in case you do lose it or if it is stolen you can cancel it right away.
