The ethnic makeup of our Waco schools is changing
In the last few years the ethnic makeup of our Waco school kids has been changing. This reflects Waco’s overall inner city population. Apparently the ethnic makeup of the private schools in Waco like Vanguard High School is much different from our public schools. Has this created problems for our Waco public schools and a reason why we have a Waco ISD police force of 13? Family income no doubt figures in these changes.

Waco High: 1479 enrolled; 588 Hispanic; Others: 891 Non Hispanics; 556 Am. Indian; 13 Asian; 641 Black; 268 White
Out of 3,428 students only 456 white.
ALSO if you are a Waco WISD taxpayer you may be concerned about WISD giving the bid to out of town contractors to build UHS and make modifications to Dean Highland. K. Paul Holt, an executive with the local AGC office, says he has been able to convince our forefathers that this is not right for our Waco taxpayers. He says Waco contractors will have the inside track now unless their bid is really too far different.
I have nothing against black and Hispanics, but some people do. One of my best friends in high school was Hispanic and we did a lot of things together. But times are different now and this may be why we have had a lot of white flight to the suburbs or private schools. We’ve heard some weird stories since I started researching this.
