Post Office needs lesson in customer service
Sometime I think the post office needs to learn some customer service lessons. Maybe then they might do a little better.
Example A: We mailed a bill to one of our new advertisers. The whole package came back. The P O said the customer had no post office box at their store front. A knock on the door could have been done to deliver the package and inform them from now on, they need a post office box out front. The carrier must have gone to that address to know if they had a box or not. Cost me two stamps and now another two stamps to send it to another address.
We have no post office box but they still deliver mail to us. One time it was maybe three times a day. We have an after hours drop they use on Saturdays.
Example B: Three postal customers bought a post office box. This means a carrier no longer has to stop at their address. They simple walk about ten feet and drop their mail in a P O Box the customer bought. Now the PO saves gas money and all plus now gets rent on a box in their building. Guess what: they charged us real money anyway to tell us. The P O has forms right there in the office. They should have provided them one for everybody that sends them mail weekly like we do.
Example C: A new business less than 100 feet from the back door of the post office. The P O wouldn’t deliver mail to them. Maybe for the same reason because they were fixing up the front of the building and didn’t have a post office box yet.
The advertiser had to buy a P O Box inside the P. O. Since it was new he wasn’t sure of the number. I called the post office to be sure of his right box number. I had two different numbers. The P O would not give me the number or confirm if I had the right number. They said it was confidential information. Lots of companies sell these numbers and some like the chamber of commerce gladly print them. Now if I mail a paper to them and the number is wrong they will give it to me but charge me for it. They call it a change of address or wrong address. Why should it be confidential information? The PO needs all the mail it can get. They should encourage people to mail and help them out with addresses
The post office needs some lessons in customer service.
