BIG RACING WITH LITTLE KARTS GETS UNDER WAY SUNDAY AT HEART OF TEXAS KARTWAY
A club owned and operated racing circuit, Heart of Texas Kartway is one of the oldest and most charismatic racing venues in Texas built specifically for kart racing. Located near the regional airport one lap covers 3/8 of a mile and is comprised of a road course style configuration with seven corners testing both driver and machine.
Racers, men and women, ranging from five to sixty years of age will participate in six separate categories based on age and kart type for their respective championships which will be decided over 19 races during the season. While in many traditional sports girls and boys are divided by gender, in karting, the two compete equally.
While karting represents a sensational form of motorsport in its own right, many young drivers see the sport as a spring board to higher levels. Many top NASCAR stars began their careers behind the wheel of karts. A handful of them including Jamie McMurray and AJ Allmendinger can still regularly be found participating in kart races in the off-season to keep their skills sharp.
The races are open to spectators and racing enthusiasts who are interested in checking out the action. Spectators can watch with free general admission and pit passes are available for a nominal fee for those who want to get closer to the action. Racing starts at 2pm and a few miles from the regional airport at 7300 Karl May Drive in Waco.
Starting: March 20th at 2:00
