> BIG NEWS — Central Texas is now a Sports Mecca
Lady Bears beat No. 2 UConn before an advance sell out crowd of 10,607 –
66 – 61. Sunday night Dec. 17.
Baylor got the ball to 6 ft, 8 Brittney Ginner to win Sunday night at the
Ferrell Center.
Coach Kim Mulkey said it was great for Baylor but its not a championship –
yet. Great way to go home for Christmas.
Britney Grinner sets new records.
Friday night the Baylor men’s basketball team, No. 6, made history too. They
weren’t supposed to beat BYU, No. 8, in Provo, Utah before a crowd of 22,000
but they did at the last few minutes of the game. 86-83
Baylor football has been making history all year winning 9 games, all seven
of the home games played in Waco for the first time in history. These wins
helped Robert Griffin III. Especially the 46,000 crowd at the Texas game.
The Dallas Cowboys is America’s team, but Central Texas consider they are
our team too, especially when they win like they did in Florida to stay in
the race to the Super Bowl.. Houston Texans won too for first time and are
now in the running for the Super Bowl too.
Midway went all the way to state for the first time, at Cowboy Stadium
Friday night. Dec. 16.. LakeTravis Cavaliers won 22 to 7. The Lake Travis team
set a state record by winning five consecutive state titles. No other team has
done this.
Other High School teams have gone a long way this year.
National sports announcers and commentators are having a hard time adjusting
to the fact that we have some great teams here in several sports. Our
teams are not supposed to win in all these sports, but we are, praise the Lord.
This makes for a great Christmas.
