Walk Across Texas Walking Program
Dust off those walking shoes and join in as we Walk Across Texas! Recruit a group of eight people and compete with other teams to see who can walk the most miles over 8 weeks from May 7 – July 1. The kick-off will be held on Thursday, May 3, at 5:00 p.m. at the Cameron Park Redwood Shelter located at 2300 Cameron Park Drive, Waco. Come to the Kick-Off and walk your first mile with other walkers from McLennan County. Registration will be from 5:00 – 5:30 p.m. and the walk will start at 5:30 p.m. First 100 to sign-in at the kick-off and complete the 1-mile walk will receive a Walk Across Texas t-shirt.
Walk Across Texas, sponsored by the Texas AgriLife Extension Service, is a fun, flexible, and FREE way to encourage people to exercise. There is no money involved, except perhaps to buy a good pair of walking shoes! Team members can walk together or individually; just keep track of your mileage and report it to your team captain who then enters it on the website. The Walk Across Texas program is a program that works with any group, families, friends, neighborhoods, communities, churches, and work sites.
