The veterans health care system has become a popular target
The veterans health care system has become a popular target for
politicians and pundits alike who say the government spends too much for
medical services to veterans and they want to privatize the health care.
However, sending veterans to the private sector for care will cost
taxpayers more money, will provide veterans with less quality health care
options and will destroy a system of quality health care for the special
needs of veterans. The VA provides a wide range of specialized care
tailored to meet these unique needs, such as spinal cord injury medicine,
blind rehabilitation, amputee programs, prosthetics, post traumatic stress
disorder treatment, and mental health services.
