Back in 1974, I founded the Robinson State Bank  in Robinson, cut the ribbon March 1st, 1974, the same year Baylor won
the South West Conference  Football Championship and Dr. Pepper put out a
commorative bottle.  Being a good neighbor and supporter of Baylor, I
purchased 2 cases of the commorative bottles and sat them in my Office.
Soon, some customers thought I was a collector and started bringing me
every kind of bottle, etc.   I had so many, I started storing them at  my
farmhouse in Calvert Texas.   Years later, or around 1989 my wife, Linda
read in Texas Monthly about a Dr Pepper bottling plant in Dublin that would wash and refill your bottles, if you brought them out on a Tuesday.  I took out 50 cases and had them filled.   Soon, we were having a daily Dr  Pepper with bank customers and everyone seemed to enjoy them,.   Mr. Bill  Kloster, the owner of the Dublin Bottling Plant  met me at the Dublin Plant and signed me up to the Collectors Club and I have been a member every since. We now look forward to seeing old friends, fellow collectors
and going to the Waco Dr Pepper Museum.   It is now an annual event that
we look forward to every year. And my son is now a Director of the Waco Dr Pepper Museum. And this year, I am the President of the 10-2-4 Dr Pepper  Collectors Club. See you there.
We have members in 48 States, usually the ones from California come the
longest distance.  Not sure what the number of members are at this time,
since they change.  Its usually the highest during the convention.   I saw
the late Bill Kloster pay $7,000.00 for a Dr Pepper Cardboard at the annual
auction.   And Last year a Dublin 100th anniversary  Bottle brought
$2,000.00.   I don’t sell much, keep what I have got and add to it each
year.    I have a warehouse full of stuff.

  1. To all Dr Pepper fans,
I have a Dr Pepper promotional bicycle in my shed I would like to get rid of.It’s about 10 to 12 years old give or take. never rode no rust just dust. Tires are flat last time I moved it. Excellent condition for it’s age. I won it in a contest and didn’t really need another bike. Make me an offer and I’ll send some pictures.

  2. I went to the convention this past March for the first time. It was great! Learned some things I didn’t know and met a lot of very nice people that love to drink Dr Pepper as much as I do and have a whole lot more in their collections than I do!! I am starting to catch up,though, I think, as I have been ordering up a storm on ebay since the end of April. Hopefully soon I will be able to have a collection like the ones that have been able to find more memorbilia in their areas than I have seen in Washington State!!

  3. Have sent in my club dues and registration for the convention on March 8-10,2012 and am excited about going and reconnecting with other Dr Pepper collectors!
