PBS Series Gets Emmy Nomination

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s PBS television series has been nominated for a Lone Star Emmy – the episode submitted contained a story on wind energy, the Devil’s River and Kemp’s Ridley sea turtles.  The awards will be given Oct 16.  To view these stories:

Supplemental Recreational Red Snapper Season Continues to Nov. 22

The recreational red snapper season opened Oct. 1 and continues for eight consecutive weekends (Friday through Sunday.)

At the request of the Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Fisheries Service approved the reopening of the season each weekend from 12:01 a.m. local time, Friday through 12:01 a.m. local time Monday. The fishing season will close for the remainder of the year at 12:01 a.m. local time, Nov. 22.

Anglers may keep two red snapper per person, per day, longer than 16 inches. In addition, anglers must have in possession a venting tool and dehooking device when fishing for Gulf reef fish. The use of non-stainless steel circle hooks is also required for fishermen using natural baits. For-hire captain and crew are not permitted to keep red snapper.
