The 2010 Veterans Day Parade will start at 11 a.m. on Thursday November 11th on Austin Avenue beginning at 13th Street and ending at 3rd Street. On behalf of the McLennan County Veterans Assn., Dr. Mike O’Bric announces the selection of Cliff Teer (Waco) as the Parade Marshall. This is the year of the Navy and Cliff Teer served in seven important surface battles during World War II.

Cliff Teer, from Josephine, Texas, was sent to China in 1938 as a crewman for the destroyer USS Parrott. Chief Teer’s ship was part of America’s attempt to stop the Japanese “blitzkrieg” of the South Pacific in Java after Pearl Harbor. In the second battle of the war at Badoeng Strait off Bali, Chief Teer’s ship was hit and removed to Australia. Later in the war, Chief Teer was aboard ship in support of the Marine Corps invasions of Guadalcanal, Bouganville, Saipan, Palau, and Okinawa.
