Letter to the Editor

I hate tax day. Not because I have to pay taxes but because so many
wealthy and privileged don’t. The tax burden keeps getting shifted
to the rest of us.
I get to pay my taxes for corporate welfare. It seems that 26 profitable
and biggest companies have paid no taxes for years. And, 2,700 companies
take state income taxes from their workers paychecks and keep it.
And I’m such a “sap” for financing the rich and privileged because our
senators, congressmen and tea party bestow tax breaks through 3.8 million
words lobbied into the tax code for deductions, discounts, subsidies, loopholes,
and special treatment.
Tax day is an ugly reminder that these same politicians attack our people
over spending our taxes on social security, health care, medicare, medicaid,
veterans, food stamps, unemployment, and aid for the poor and fragile.
But, these same politicians will pay $1.4 trillion (that’s “t”) for an airplane that
the analysts say can’t perform. Keep 100,000′s of unneeded employees in
the defense department and pentagon. Pay a fortune to keep open 1,000 military
bases around the world. Waste multi billions for Navy ships, ballistic missile
defense, boondoggle Space Agency, and maintaining over 5,000 nuclear weapon sites.
I hate tax day because our politicians fail to conduct oversite on waste, fraud,
and the financial abuse of my tax dollars. As Senator Coburn reports there
are $200 billion in duplicating programs, ridiculous Republican and Democratic expenditures,
and $200 million in “silly” conferences. They will enter into
“blood sucking” military contracts and do nothing about the corruption involved.
And protect the rich and privileged hiding a trillion dollars in off shore accounts
On tax day, 54 services, 52 offices, 51 commissions, 42 administrations, 38 departments,
32 bureaus, 26 agencies, 21 boards, 20 councils, 19 centers, 18 foundations, even
16 colleges, and another 43 groups will be wasting my tax money thanks to our senators and congress.
There is even a Federal Interagency for the Management of Noxious and Exotic Weeds.
Politicians on tax day are only interested in getting elected and what damage they
can do to the poor and unfortunate, not our taxes.
