WHO
WHAT:& H-E-B customers statewide took a stand against hunger with a record-breaking Help End Hunger campaign, raising $444,500 statewide to benefit 15 Texas food banks. This year’s total surpassed last year’s campaign by $80,200.
On Thursday, a check in the amount of $4,500 will be presented to Caritas of Waco as result of a tear-pad campaign that ran May 9, 2012 to July 15, 2012.
Tear-off coupons in the amounts of $1, $3 and $5 were located at checkout stands in H-E-B grocery stores, where customers could add the desired donation amount to their final grocery bill. The money collected is awarded to the hunger organization that serves the area where the funds were raised. As a result of the donation, more than 15,750 meals will be made available to Waco’s hungry families.
