Pep Rally for Extreme Makeover Volunteers at Southwestern University, Georgetown
Austin, Texas (November 24, 2010) — ABC’s Emmy-winning hit show Extreme Makeover: Home Edition
has selected a North Central Texas family to feature on its award winning show that helps change the lives
of families and inspire remarkable community support. Each week, the show builds a new home for a
deserving family, traveling across the country.
They call to build a home in just one week has been answered by three Austin-based organizations: state-wide
homebuilder Tilson Home Corporation, diversified building products and corrugated packaging
company Temple-Inland Inc.. and the statewide homebuilders trade organization Texas Association of
Builders. The team is calling the project “The Heart of Texas Build.”
The Heart of Texas Build will rely on volunteers and all of North Central Texas is invited to get involved in
this historic event. The team will host a pep rally on Tuesday, November 30th at the Robertson Center on the
Southwestern University campus in Georgetown, to kick off the volunteer effort to help accomplish this
amazing feat for a worthy family. While the exact town and family details won’t be released until the week of
December 6th, volunteers can sign up now to get involved in this community event.

The pep rally will be hosted by Eddie Martin, president of Tilson Homes; Scott Norman, executive director of
the Texas Association of Builders; and, Martha Grissom, spokesperson for Temple-Inland’s building products
group. They’ll be joined by several members of the production team to talk about the show and how people
can help.
The Heart of Texas Build team is inviting volunteers from the community to provide their time, support and
resources to help ensure the success of this life-altering project. Interested individuals or companies can find

Admission to the Pep Rally is free to the public with a suggested donation of non-perishable food items for the
Capital Area Food Bank, who will also be collecting food donations at the makeover site.

PEP RALLY SUMMARY
WHAT: On Tuesday, November 30th, a pep rally will be held for the community and all volunteers of
the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition build at Southwestern University in Georgetown.
Admission is FREE to the public with a suggested donation of two healthy, non-perishable
food items for the Capital Area Food Bank of Texas.
WHO: Temple-Inland Inc, Texas Association of Builders and Tilson Home Corporation – build team
for the week-long Extreme build; all designated volunteers, and special appearance by Milan
Vasic, executive producer of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
WHEN: Tuesday, November 30, 2010, 6pm – 8pm
WHERE: Corbin J. Robertson Center, Southwestern University, Georgetown
WHY: The event will rally all volunteers of North Central Texas’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition
to inspire and share information about the build schedule, the need for volunteers and what
to expect during the build week. The Extreme build has had a tremendous response from the
North Central Texas Community, but is still in need of some key volunteers and materials.
In addition to general volunteers and donations, the build is specifically seeking additional
help from the following: dry wallers, painters and framers. The build also needs individuals or
companies who are able to prepare meals for volunteers.

Schedule of Events
The home build and several events to help generate awareness, gather volunteer support, and donations are tightly
scheduled. Please make a note of the following dates in your calendars.
November 30th – Pep rally for all volunteers and community – 6P-8P at the Corbin J. Robertson Center at Southwestern
University in Georgetown.
Sometime the week of December 6th – Family notified, also known as the “Door Knock”. The
Build begins.
December 12th – House reveal, also known as the time to “Move that Bus!”
