EVENING OF CELEBRATION AS WACO GOES RED
The American Heart Association, in conjunction with Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center, is excited to announce their Go Red for Women Kick-Off event slated for Tuesday, November 30th from 5-7 p.m., at the Hillcrest I-35 Campus Café & Patio.
The event will feature refreshments, entertainment and opportunities for the public to get involved with the Go Red for Women movement sweeping across Central Texas, in addition to the Go Red for Women luncheon slated for February, 2011.
“Last year, the Waco community raised $105,000.00, to fund cardiovascular disease research, educate consumers and saved so many lives. That’s a 55% increase over the previous year. We are so excited to continue this momentum by announcing Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center as the new Waco Goes Red sponsor this year,” states Melissa Contreras, Corporate Market Director, American Heart Association, LarSouth Central Affiliate.
Further Mrs. Contreras explained, “Go Red is a comprehensive program that engages consumers, sponsors, supporters at all levels in educating women in our community about heart disease and heart health. Statistically, more women die of cardiovascular disease than cancer. Yet, only 1 in 5 women believe that heart disease is her greatest health threat. With support from Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center and other generous sponsors we will continue to fight against these statistics.”
