Proceeds from Wendy’s FrostyTM Key Tags Will Assist Local Troop Activities
Killeen, TX (November 11, 2010) – To show their support and appreciation for local troops, Wendy’s Restaurants in Waco, Temple, Killeen, Marble Falls and Copperas Cove will make a donation in the amount of $8,482 to USO Fort Hood on Veterans Day, November 11, 2010.

The donated funds were raised as part of a campaign by Central Texas Wendy’s to sell Frosty Key Tags at all area Wendy’s Restaurants. During the summer, Wendy’s customers were encouraged to purchase $1 Frosty Key Tags, providing them with one free Jr. Frosty with any of their purchases through the end of the year, with up to 80% of proceeds from the key tags donated to the Fort Hood USO.

“The entire goal of this campaign was to provide extra funds for the local Fort Hood USO while treating our customers to Wendy’s great-tasting Frostys,” said James Hays, chief operating officer and vice president of Central Texas Wendy’s. “Our local troops are the character and the lifeblood of Central Texas, and it’s Wendy’s privilege to be able to assist these brave men and women in any way we can.”

Frosty Key Tags were sold in participating Central Texas Wendy’s locations from Memorial Day to Independence Day, with $8,482 worth of key tags sold.

“Located on the largest military installation in the U.S., the USO Fort Hood center continues to support our local troops with comfort and recreation each and everyday,” said Robin Crouse, director of the Fort Hood USO. “We rely on the incredible generosity of local businesses and organizations like Central Texas Wendy’s for donations that make the time our troops serve in Fort Hood fun and comforting.”
