Dear Fellow Community Members,
Why Ozone, why now? The subject of ozone levels has been around for a while now, but soon the EPA will be setting new and stricter standards of the Air Quality here in Waco and surrounding communities. Here at the Heart of Texas Council of Governments we have set up an Air Quality Advisory Committee with the mission statement being, “Using knowledge and action to improve air quality, reduce ozone formation, enhance health, and reduce the need for regulation in the Heart of Texas.
We have also created a website so you can better understand what Ozone is, it’s health impacts, EPA Standards and what YOU can do to help with better air quality. On the home page you will find yesterday’s Air Quality Level as reported by the Texas Commission of Environmental Quality (TCEQ), Today’s Alert Level, Tomorrow’s High Temperature and Tomorrow’s Wind Speed. You will also find the Air Quality Forecast from TCEQ and other useful links to our communities.
For Public Education and Awareness we have also put out billboards around town, are running PSA’s, both free and paid on TV and Radio.
I hope you will take the time to check it out to Learn it & Live it! Even the smallest act contributes to the whole!
