One of the biggest sports stories ever for Waco and Baylor University is
taking place this week in San Antonio. Dec. 26 to the 30th, 2011.
Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III will lead the Baylor Bears football
team to what we hope is a victory, Thursday night, Dec. 29th. in the Valero
Alamo Bowl game.
They take on Washington from the Pac 12 Conference. A radio interview with a
spokesperson for that team indicated they have a problem with their new
quarterback. Of course, Baylor is representing the Big 12.
The stats favor Baylor. If they win, it will be the first time Baylor has won
back to back bowl games since the 1991 and 1992 seasons. Last year they
played in the Texas Bowl in Houston to a sell out crowd. They have won 9
games this year and of course if they win this week it will make it ten for
the Bears. Probably the first time in history. The game will be televised
live to the nation on ESPN.
Terrance Ganaway and Kendall Wright are stars on the Baylor team catching
RGIII passes. This 2011 team has set many records, including 53 individual
and team records.
Bowl officials have had to set up extra temporary seats, because a lot of
fans just want to ITB — In the building when Baylor wins. These extra seats
were selling at $102. each.
Probably no tickets are left by this time. But if you need a hotel room, you
can try one of our advertisers, the Drury hotel near the airport on North
Loop 410. The number is 1 210-308-8100. They offer a real bargain, which
includes a free hot breakfast and a free 5:30 kickback, plus long distance
calls.
